Description: This memorial is dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans who served in all branches of the military during various wars, spanning from the Revolutionary War to the Persian Gulf War. The memorial features fourteen vertical gray granite slabs that showcase different aspects of these wars and bear the names of local area veterans who bravely fought and, in some cases, gave their lives during these conflicts. Two military tanks, one hailing from Alabama and the other from Fort Riley, Kansas, both representing the Army, were generously transported to Helena through a discounted shipping arrangement with the Burlington Northern Railroad. The Oklahoma National Guard troops from Alva undertook the responsibility of driving these tanks to their designated location at the memorial. In addition, the flagpoles at the site were constructed by inmates from the 680-unit Crabtree Correctional Center. The bricks used for the monument were sourced from various places, including Helena's former high school, the foundation of an old home, and streets in Ponca City.
