Description: Initiated in 2014 by Mysty Stumbo, the Boone County Freedom Rock project stands as a heartfelt tribute to her beloved son, Sgt. Daniel Sesker, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Iraq in 2006. This poignant memorial, located on the northwest corner of the courthouse lawn in Boone, IA, serves as a lasting symbol of remembrance and gratitude for all who have served our country. Surrounded by a landscape thoughtfully adorned with ten flags, each representing a branch of service, as well as the Iowa flag and the American flag, the Freedom Rock radiates a profound sense of unity and pride.
