Description: Situated in Dominion City within the Emerson-Franklin Municipality, this monument replicates a true-to-life version of Manitoba's largest sturgeon, an impressive specimen that weighed 406 pounds, measured 15½ feet in length, was estimated to be 150 years old, and was a female carrying a load of eggs. This remarkable sturgeon was captured in the Roseau River east of Dominion City by Sandy Waddell on October 27, 1903. Transported back using a seven-foot democrat carriage drawn by a team of horses, a portion of this colossal fish, about five feet in length, trailed along the ground during its journey. This monument finds its place next to the First Railway Monument.
