Description: Finn's Point National Cemetery, located in Pennsville, New Jersey, is a historic burial ground that dates back to the Civil War era. Established in 1863, it originally served as a final resting place for Confederate prisoners of war who died while imprisoned at Fort Delaware, situated on Pea Patch Island in the Delaware River. The cemetery spans approximately 4.6 acres and is the site of over 2,400 interments, including both Confederate and Union soldiers, as well as veterans from subsequent American conflicts. Notably, the cemetery features a 85-foot tall obelisk dedicated to the Confederate dead, erected in 1910, and a Union monument dedicated in 1879. Finn's Point National Cemetery is managed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and remains a solemn reminder of the nation's turbulent past, honoring those who served and sacrificed.
