Description: Milligan Depot where the train depot used to stand. Close to this location, there was the Milligan College Flag Stop, which offered shade and protection to travelers from 1896 to 1934 as they waited for the East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad, also known as the "Tweetsie," to transport them either west to Johnson City or east to Cranberry, NC, and various destinations in between. Although the ET&WNC ceased using the station in 1934, passenger services continued until 1940. Freight and mail services operated until 1950.
