Description: La Grande Hermine serves as a faithful reproduction of one of the trio of ships utilized by Jacques Cartier during his exploratory voyages along the St. Lawrence River in 1535. Distinguished as the largest among them, this replica stretches 140 feet in length. Were this vessel capable of narration, it would recount a fascinating and intricate tale detailing its diverse journeys and the route that led it to its current location. Originating in 1914 within the confines of Quebec, it initially assumed the role of a ferry navigating the waters of the St. Lawrence. Over time, it transitioned through various identities, functioning as a cargo ship before evolving into a unique floating restaurant. In 1991, an extensive transformation reshaped it into its present form as a replica ship. Rescued from abandonment, it found its way to Jordan Harbour in 1997 with the ambitious aim of being reimagined as either a restaurant or a potential gambling establishment, with differing accounts regarding the latter. These visionary aspirations were attributed to a dedicated entrepreneur who, unfortunately, passed away before witnessing the realization of his ambitious dreams.
