Description: The Drumheller & District Chamber of Commerce (DDCC) is the proud owner and steward of Drumheller's cherished Little Church, a longstanding landmark nestled in the heart of the Drumheller Valley. Originating from a collaborative effort, this remarkable structure was first raised by the local contractor Tyvge "Tig" Seland in partnership with the ministerial association on July 9, 1958. Subsequently, a reconstruction was undertaken by inmates from the Drumheller Institution in 1991. The idea for the Little Church was sparked by Reverend E.C. O’Brien of the Pentecostal Church. Its design was masterminded by Robert “Bob” Gibson, while the skilled hands of Seland, known for crafting the town's array of dinosaur statues, brought it to life. Purposefully crafted as a space for worship and contemplation, it was envisioned as a sanctuary for spiritual reflection. Tragically, on October 30, 2014, the Little Church fell victim to vandalism. A fire ignited within its confines bore through the floor, leaving traces of smoke damage. Upon closer examination, it was evident that substantial repairs were imperative to safeguard the longevity of this beloved attraction. Through a collaborative endeavor between the Chamber of Commerce and the Drumheller Institution, a restorative initiative unfolded. The Little Church was gently relocated from its original site by the Town of Drumheller's Public Works department, finding temporary refuge within the Institution's carpentry shop in February 2015. The Chamber of Commerce facilitated essential materials, while DeMott Floors Ltd. generously contributed new flooring. The task of revitalization was entrusted to inmates enrolled in the pre-Carpentry program, who undertook the meticulous refurbishment of the cherished Little Church.
