Description: The Hartman Rock Garden, located at 1905 Russell Avenue in Springfield, Ohio, is a fascinating folk art site created by Ben Hartman between 1932 and 1944. Initially starting with a simple concrete fish pond, Hartman's project expanded to include over 250,000 stones, creating various structures and figurines that reflect themes of history, religion, and popular culture. The garden features more than 50 structures and numerous handmade figurines, making it a unique outdoor museum of Depression-era folk art. After Ben's death, his wife Mary maintained the garden until 1997. The Kohler Foundation restored it in 2008, and it is now managed by the Friends of the Hartman Rock Garden. The garden is open daily from dawn to dusk, free of charge, although donations are encouraged to support its upkeep
