Description: Beverley Mill, also known as Chapman's Mill, is a historic mill ruin located in Broad Run, Virginia. Originally built in 1742 by Jonathan and Nathaniel Chapman, it was expanded in the 1850s to become the tallest stacked stone structure in the United States. The mill played a significant role during the Civil War, serving as a strategic site for both Union and Confederate forces. After ceasing operations in the early 20th century, the mill suffered extensive fire damage in 1998. Today, the ruins are preserved by the Turn the Mill Around Campaign, offering visitors a glimpse into the region's industrial and Civil War history, and serving as a poignant reminder of the past.
