Description: On July 5, 1994, the Green River City Council passed Resolution R94-23, officially naming this landing field the "Greater Green River Intergalactic Spaceport." This designation was made in consideration of potential visitors from Jupiter who might seek refuge in Green River if their planet were ever at risk from comet or meteor impacts. This decision seemed to be inspired by the then-recent Comet Shoemaker–Levy 9 impact event.
