Description: During your visit, you'll encounter an array of tiny structures, such as a general store, service station, church, schoolhouse, post office, ice cream parlor, and even a barbershop. John Van Buiten, a native of New Jersey and a frequent vacationer in the area, spent several years constructing these miniature buildings with assistance from Richard Koert. Each structure measures just 98 square feet, deliberately designed to avoid the need for a permit, as in New York State, any building over 100 square feet requires one (a delightful way to rebel against bureaucracy!). After Mr. Van Buiten sold his residence in Speculator, he generously donated the tiny village to the town, and it now resides in the park for all to enjoy.
