Description: To truly grasp the reason for the church's remote location, one must delve into the history of the region. The Homestead Act of 1862, a legislation that granted ambitious pioneers 160 acres of public land to establish their new homes, led to the influx of numerous settlers to the area. After devoting six years to cultivating the land, these settlers were rewarded with full ownership of their properties. Among these enterprising newcomers was Albert Abbott, a notable settler who amassed substantial land holdings encompassing the church's vicinity. Abbott's land stretched north of the emerging Lindon town. Recognizing the town's requirement for a place of worship, Abbott commissioned the construction of the church in his namesake, and it was completed in 1913.
