Description: The highest summit in Idaho, reaching an elevation of 12,662 feet, bears the name of William E. Borah, who held a seat in the United States Senate from 1907 until his passing in 1940. Over the course of a billion years, the region has been submerged by approximately ten to twelve extensive yet relatively shallow inland seas. These waters transformed into a final resting place for numerous generations of marine life, accumulating a wealth of remains, including bones, shells, coral, and minuscule organic matter. These deposits gradually piled up, forming a massive layer of clay and limestone that spans thousands of feet in thickness. In the most recent 10 to 20 million years, a portion of this deposit has been thrust upward, shaping the imposing ridge that now stands
