Description: Millennium Manor, located in Alcoa, Tennessee, was constructed between June 1937 and December 1946 by William Andrew Nicholson and his wife, Fair. The Nicholsons originally hailed from Pickens County, Georgia, where William worked as a mason and carpenter. In 1937, he secured employment at the Alcoa plant as a replacement for striking workers. Remarkably, Nicholson embarked on the construction of Millennium Manor at the age of 61 while concurrently maintaining a full-time job at the Alcoa plant, situated just across the street. The Nicholsons envisioned Millennium Manor with a design rooted in Roman architectural techniques, intending for it to endure for centuries, even beyond the predicted Armageddon, which they believed would transpire in 1969. This historic house was subsequently added to the National Register of Historic Places in the year 2020.
