Description: The Labyrinth of Rome underwent a transformation from its initial purpose, which was the result of an initiative by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in the 1930s when it was constructed to serve as an erosion control pond. Subsequently, during the 1960s and 1970s, it took on a new role as an amphitheater, serving as a creative space for folk artists to engage in activities such as poetry readings and musical performances. Recognizing the absence of a nearby labyrinth, the late Ed Baker collaborated with local authorities to establish this particular section of Rome's historic Jackson Hill. The labyrinth consists of an impressive 5,490 bricks, which, if laid end-to-end, would stretch for over a kilometer. The combined weight of these bricks totals 24,705 pounds.
