Description: This establishment proudly serves as both the initial and concluding service stop north of McDermitt, Nevada, along Oregon's Highway 78. The Crane Store and Cafe can be found 120 miles to the northwest of McDermitt, Nevada, and 30 miles east of Burns, Oregon Several families call Crane OR place home, and it hosts just a handful of businesses, including a post office, cafe, service station, tavern, RV park, and farm supply store. The spiritual needs of the community are met by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Catholic Church, and a community chapel. During the peak of Harney County's growth, this town thrived as a bustling trade center. Its post office was established in 1895 under the stewardship of Henry C. Turner as the inaugural postmaster. Although it was temporarily discontinued in 1903, it was reopened in 1911 and continues to provide service to the community to this day.
