Description: John Murray Gibbons' secret recipe continues to be faithfully followed and is exclusively crafted for the Granville Country Store, where it still matures in the cellar. In 1935, ownership of the business changed hands when the Gibbons family sold it to an outsider, Paul Nobbs, who had previously worked as a salesman for Sunshine Biscuits. Then, in 1971, Mr. Nobbs passed the torch to Rowland Entwistel. In 1977, Ernest Hodur of Granville assumed leadership. The current proprietors, Tina G. Deblois and Tracy V. Mountain, a mother-daughter duo, acquired the Granville Country Store in 2006. They have made a commitment to preserve the renowned aging processes that give Granville Cheddar its distinctive character.
