Description: Needles, California, extends a warm welcome to its visitors, and one of the ways it does so is by showcasing a historic borax transportation wagon from the 1880s. During that era, borax was extracted from mines in Death Valley and transported by wagons pulled by a team of twenty mules to towns like Calico and Daggett. Some of us may recall the catchy TV commercials for Borax detergent, which used the term "Twenty Mule Team Borax" as both a brand and a memorable jingle. Interestingly, the actual team consisted of two horses and 18 mules. It makes you wonder if the horses were aware they were included in the "mule" name, but, as they say, a horse is a horse, regardless of the nomenclature.
