Description: Hammerschmidt Falls is a year round waterfall that is an easy 1 mile round trip hike. Park next to the firewood for sale station on the county road and walk across the highway to start the trail. Follow the old logging road across the highway that goes next to the large pond (this is a National Forest access and not a private road) for 1/2 mile until you get to the National Forest boundary gate. Once at that gate, follow the trail to the left (do not keep following the logging road) and the canyon and falls will be about 100 yards down the trail. If you continue on the trail, it will lead you down the hill to the canyon and base of the waterfall. Also, along the way to the falls, there is an old abandoned homesite on the right heading down the logging road.
