Description: Fort Leaton State Historic Site is the west entrance to Big Bend Ranch State Park, not to be confused with Big Bend NP. Day passes can be purchased here for the way stops along FM 170 heading west. Park Ranges frequently stop at the different stopping points to check on passes, however are typically forgiving allowing you to purchase the pass from them first hand. The primary road through the park is FM 170 towards Lajitas, TX, a roughly 51 miles stretch of road along the Rio Grande river. For the more adventurous there are dirt roads leading into the back country. A must see if you are in the area.
