Description: Lynde Point Lighthouse, also known as Saybrook Inner Lighthouse, is located at the mouth of the Connecticut River in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Built in 1803 and reconstructed in 1838, this historic lighthouse guides mariners through the river’s entrance into Long Island Sound. The lighthouse features a 65-foot tall octagonal tower made of brownstone and a distinctive white light that is visible for 16 miles. Although the lighthouse is not open to the public, it can be viewed from various points along the shore and by boat, offering picturesque views and a glimpse into Connecticut’s maritime history.
