Description: Saybrook Breakwater Lighthouse, also known as Breakwater Light, is located at the mouth of the Connecticut River in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Built in 1886, this iconic lighthouse stands on a breakwater that extends into Long Island Sound. The lighthouse features a distinctive cylindrical cast-iron tower, painted white with a black lantern, and is 49 feet tall. It was automated in 1959 and remains an active aid to navigation. Although the lighthouse is not open to the public, it can be viewed from nearby Fenwick, Old Saybrook, and by boat, making it a popular subject for photographers and maritime enthusiasts.
