Description: The Ocoee River in southeastern Tennessee is famous for its whitewater rapids and three Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) dams, which are popular for both hydroelectric power and recreational activities. Ocoee Dam No. 1 (Parksville Dam), built in 1911, created Parksville Lake and is ideal for boating and fishing. Ocoee Dam No. 2, finished in 1913, uses a historic wooden flume to generate power, while Dam No. 3, completed in 1943, contributes further upstream. The river hosted the 1996 Olympic whitewater events and remains a prime destination for rafting and kayaking, with nearby Cherokee National Forest offering trails and camping.
