Description: Denali Park Road, which traverses Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska, includes several notable mountain passes and overlooks that offer stunning vistas and opportunities to appreciate the rugged terrain and magnificent landscapes of the Alaska Range. Some of the prominent mountain passes and overlooks along Denali Park Road include: Savage River Overlook: Located at mile 14, this overlook provides a picturesque view of the Savage River and the surrounding valley. It's an excellent spot for wildlife viewing and photography. Polychrome Overlook: Around mile 46, the Polychrome Overlook offers breathtaking panoramic views of the colorful Polychrome Mountains. It's known for its striking geology and is a popular stop for bus tours. Toklat River Overlook: Situated at mile 53, this overlook provides a glimpse of the Toklat River and the vast wilderness beyond. It's a peaceful spot to enjoy the natural beauty of the park. Sable Pass: Located at mile 58, Sable Pass is known for its opportunities to spot wildlife such as grizzly bears and wolves. The area features expansive views of the surrounding landscape. Eielson Visitor Center: Positioned at mile 66, the Eielson Visitor Center is one of the primary stops along Denali Park Road. It offers a superb view of Denali (Mount McKinley) and is an excellent place for educational exhibits, ranger-led programs, and hiking trails. Thorofare Pass: Around mile 71, Thorofare Pass offers a viewpoint overlooking the dramatic landscapes of the Thorofare River Valley. It's a remote and less-visited area of the park. Wonder Lake: At mile 85, Wonder Lake is one of the most iconic and photographed spots along Denali Park Road. The lake provides stunning reflections of Denali on clear days and is a popular destination for photographers. Kantishna: The terminus of Denali Park Road at mile 92.5, Kantishna is a remote area deep within Denali National Park. It offers lodging options and access to backcountry adventures, making it an ideal base for exploring the park's interior.
